1. Free Tour Basics
Are Prague free tours really free?
Yes! Prague free tours operate on a pay-what-you-wish model. You join for free and experience the tour, then decide what to pay based on the guide's performance. If you didn't enjoy the tour, it's completely free—no obligation to tip.
What is a free walking tour in Prague?
A Prague free walking tour is a group tour that doesn't require a fixed upfront fee. Our professional Prague guides lead the tour, and their income comes entirely from tips at the end. It's their livelihood, so we encourage you to tip if you enjoyed the experience—but the amount is completely up to you.
How much should I tip my Prague free tour guide?
Tips are voluntary but greatly appreciated! Most visitors tip €10–20 per person (approximately 250–500 CZK). If you're unsure about local tipping customs, think of it like the cost of a lunch or concert ticket in Prague. The amount is entirely your choice based on the quality of your experience.
What is the relation between 100 Spires City Tours and Real Prague Guides?
Real Prague Guides and 100 Spires City Tours are two interconnected brands founded by the same team of licensed Prague guides.
Real Prague Guides is our media brand – the YouTube channel featuring Valery, Vaclav, and Nico (50,000+ subscribers), plus Instagram stories sharing Prague's secrets.
We founded 100 Spires City Tours to run in-person tours at scale: bookings via tours-prague.eu, daily departures, and operations.
You'll be guided by our team of 15 professional friends – often Valery, Vaclav, or Nico from YouTube, or our equally skilled local guides with the same honest, anecdote-rich style.
Real Prague Guides = our faces and stories. 100 Spires = how we deliver your tour. Both work together seamlessly.
2. Booking & Reservations
Do I need to book a Prague free tour in advance?
Yes, we only accept visitors with active reservations. Visitors without reservations or those with reservations for a different day/time will be accommodated only if space is available after booked guests arrive. We recommend booking in advance, especially during:
Weekends
Summer months (June–August)
Holidays (Christmas markets, Easter, New Year)
Most time slots can be booked online same-day, but popular slots fill quickly.
What if I'm running late to the tour?
Please try to arrive 5–10 minutes early. If you're more than 5 minutes late, the guide cannot wait—they must depart on time to keep the group on schedule. If you're running late, we recommend:
Canceling your current reservation
Booking a different time slot
Guides don't answer calls or messages during tours, so contact us in advance if you're delayed.
Can my guide wait for me or share their location if I'm late?
Unfortunately, no. Guides don't answer phone calls or messages during tours to maintain tour quality. If you're running more than 5 minutes late, please cancel and join another time slot instead.
3. Tipping & Payment
How much should I pay for my Prague free tour?
The concept of free tours means you decide the price based on your experience. We don't suggest a fixed amount—that's completely your choice! Most guests tip €10–20 per person (250–500 CZK). If you're unsure about local rates, compare it to the cost of a lunch or concert ticket in Prague.
How can I pay my Prague free tour guide?
Cash (preferred): All guides accept Czech crowns (CZK), US Dollars (USD), and Euro bills. Please note: Euro coins cannot be exchanged in the Czech Republic.
Card/Digital Payment: Most guides also accept card payments and online transfers (Wise, PayPal, etc.). Ask your guide at the end of the tour about their preferred digital payment method.
What payment methods do your guides accept?
Cash: Czech crowns, US Dollars, Euro bills
Cards: Most guides accept card payments
Online transfers: Wise, PayPal, and bank transfers (ask your guide)
4. Tour Duration & What to Expect
How long are the Prague free walking tours?
Most Prague free walking tours last 2 to 3 hours, depending on:
The specific tour route
Group size
Stops along the way
Some tours may be slightly shorter or longer, but typically plan for 2.5 hours.
What's the walking pace like on Prague free tours?
We maintain a steady, moderate pace to cover key sights and stay on schedule. However, we have to cover considerable distances with minimal breaks on some tours (especially Old Town and WWII tours). If you have mobility concerns, please let us know when booking or contact us before the tour.
What should I wear on a Prague free walking tour?
Comfortable clothing appropriate for the season:
Comfortable walking shoes (essential—you'll walk 2–3 km on cobblestones)
Weather-appropriate clothing (Prague weather varies greatly by season)
Layers (especially spring/fall when temperatures fluctuate)
Sun protection (hat, sunscreen in summer)
Rain jacket or umbrella (for rainy days)
What should I bring on the Prague free walking tour?
Cash or payment method (for your tip)
Water bottle (to stay hydrated)
Comfortable shoes (essential for cobblestone streets)
Phone or camera (to take photos and screenshots of information shared)
Light backpack (to carry personal items)
Sunscreen and hat (especially in summer)
Optional but helpful:
Notebook for notes
Portable charger for your phone
Will we walk on cobblestones?

Our free walking tours in Prague are offered in English. All our guides are fluent English speakers and can answer questions throughout the tour. Can I take photos or videos on the Prague free tour?
Absolutely! We encourage you to take photos and videos of the sights and landmarks. Feel free to share your photos on social media and tag @RealPragueGuides on Instagram or YouTube—we'd love to see your content! Just be respectful of other guests and monuments while filming.
5. Group Policies
How large are the groups on Prague free walking tours?
We limit our free walking tour groups to a maximum of 30 adults per guide. Occasionally groups may be slightly larger if additional people join without a reservation, but we actively monitor and manage group size for quality control.
Why do you limit group size on free tours?
Smaller groups ensure:
Better interaction with your guide
Everyone can hear the guide clearly
More flexibility to answer questions
A quality Prague free tour experience
For larger groups (9+ people), we offer special group rates with prepayment to ensure commitment.
What constitutes a "group" for booking purposes?
We define a "group" as individuals traveling together, such as:
Friends traveling together
Family members
Colleagues or coworkers
Students or school groups
Church or organization members
Any people engaging in shared activities in Prague
"Traveling collectively" means you're doing activities together in Prague—not necessarily arriving on the same flight or staying at the same hotel.
Can I bring my friends and family on the tour?
Yes! Friends and family are welcome on all our Prague free walking tours. If your group is:
1–8 people: Book individual reservations (no prepayment needed)
9–14 people: Contact us for group rates (prepayment required: €12/adult, €5/child)
15+ people: We recommend a private tour (contact us for pricing)
6. Large Groups & Private Tours
Why do groups of 8–14 people need to prepay?
Groups of this size have a higher no-show rate based on our experience. Prepayment (€12 per adult, €5 per child) confirms your commitment.
Important: Groups that make separate individual reservations to avoid contacting us will be declined on the spot.
How do I book a large group for a Prague free tour?
For groups of 8–14 people, contact us at info@100spirescitytours.cz with:
Group size (number of adults and children)
Preferred date and time
Tour type you're interested in
We'll confirm availability and provide prepayment details.
Can I get a refund if I cancel my large group reservation?
Yes! If you cancel 24 hours in advance, you'll receive a full or partial refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are non-refundable.
Do you accept groups of 15 or more people?
Unfortunately, we don't offer groups of 15+ on our free walking tours. For large groups, we recommend booking a private Prague tour with guaranteed capacity. Contact us at info@100spirescitytours.cz for private group pricing.
